Using Safe Exam Browser (SEB) for EP Assessments
This guide will walk you through the steps to use the Safe Exam Browser (SEB) to take your Education Perfect (EP) assessments. SEB is a secure application that turns your computer into a temporary lockdown workstation, which is why your regular tools (like password managers) won't work while you're taking the test.
Please note: SEB can be installed on Windows, Mac, and iOS devices.
Step 1: Install Safe Exam Browser (SEB)
First, you need to download and install SEB on your device.
- Navigate to the official SEB download page: https://safeexambrowser.org/download_en.html
- Choose the version that is suitable for your device (Windows, macOS, or iOS) and follow the installation instructions.
Step 2: Access the assessment
You do not need to launch SEB manually - it will launch automatically when you try to open your test.
- Log into your EP Student Zone via your regular web browser.
Look for the assessment your teacher has assigned. It will be clearly marked with a Safe Exam Browser indicator.
- Click on the assessment.
You will see a prompt asking you to open the assessment inside SEB.
Open in SEB to proceed.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Once SEB launches, it locks down your device. This means that any autofill or password managers you usually use will not work.
Make sure you know your EP login credentials (username and password) before you start the assessment!
Step 3: Start the assessment
The assessment will now launch within the SEB environment.
- On the SEB screen, click Start Assessment.
- You will be prompted to log in. Use your EP username and password to sign in.
- Next, enter the access code that your teacher has provided to you.
Step 4: Complete and exit
- Work through the assessment as you would normally do.
- When you are finished, submit your attempt within the assessment.
- If your teacher has set a quit password, you will be prompted to enter it to exit SEB.
- If no quit password was set, you are free to leave SEB and your main browser will reappear, allowing you to resume regular use of your device.
